The JBL Bar 500 MK2 is the 2025 refresh of the Bar 500: a 5.1-channel soundbar paired with a wireless 10-inch subwoofer, delivering 750 W of total system power with Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual:X. The MK2 update brings MultiBeam 3.0 surround processing and PureVoice 2.0 dialogue enhancement, plus automatic room calibration so the bar tunes itself to your living room rather than to a lab.

MultiBeam 3.0
JBL's beam-steering bounces sound off your side walls to widen the soundstage well beyond the 94 cm width of the bar itself.

Wireless 10-inch subwoofer

Dual-band Wi-Fi supports AirPlay, Google Cast, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect and Roon Ready, so you can use the bar as a music system without turning the TV on.

Connectivity & compatibility

HDMI out with eARC connects to any modern TV with a single cable and carries Dolby Atmos back from the TV's own apps; a second HDMI input with HDCP 2.3 takes a console or streaming box and passes 4K, Dolby Vision and HDR10+ through untouched. Optical and USB inputs are also fitted (USB playback on the US version). Wireless streaming runs over dual-band 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax Wi-Fi with AirPlay, Google Cast, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect and Roon Ready, and it works alongside voice-assistant-enabled speakers such as Google Assistant or Siri devices. Bluetooth 5.3 with A2DP 1.3 and AVRCP 1.5 covers phones and tablets directly. Setup and EQ are handled by the JBL One app on iOS and Android.

Care & safety

Leave clearance around both the bar and the subwoofer so air can move; do not sit the sub inside a closed cabinet. Dust the grille with a dry soft brush rather than a wet cloth, and never spray cleaner directly onto the fabric. If you wall-mount the bar, use the supplied template and fixings suited to your wall type, and check the bracket takes the 2.9 kg weight. Unplug both units during electrical storms. Networked standby draws under 2 W and deep sleep under 1 W, so leaving it plugged in costs very little.

Who it suits

Households that want proper cinema bass and Atmos height effects without running speaker cable around the room. The 10-inch wireless sub is the reason to choose this over a one-box bar, and PureVoice suits anyone who finds modern film dialogue hard to follow. If your room is small or you only watch news and sport, a smaller bar without a separate sub will be a better fit; if you want true rear channels, look at a bar system with detachable surrounds.
