JBL Soundgear Frames are audio glasses that put a pair of ultra-thin speakers inside the temples, so you hear your music and calls while your ears stay completely open to the world around you. This is the round eye shape in translucent Amber, with UV A/B blocking lenses that an optician can replace with your prescription. They run for eight hours, charge in two, and switch themselves on the moment you unfold them.
Key features & benefits
JBL OpenSound open-ear audio
Nothing sits in or over your ear, so you keep full awareness of traffic, colleagues and announcements while still hearing your audio clearly.
Ultra-thin 25 x 9 mm drivers
A three-layer diaphragm in a rectangular driver lets JBL fit real sound into a temple only a few millimetres thick, with a bass-enhancement algorithm making up for the lack of a seal.
Directed sound with reduced leakage
The acoustic design aims sound at your ear rather than broadcasting it, so the person next to you hears far less of what you are listening to.
Beamforming two-mic array
Dual-module environmental noise cancellation, non-linear echo suppression and a wind-resistant design keep your voice intelligible on calls outdoors.
Eight hours of playtime
Enough for a full working day, and a 10-minute charge adds another two hours when you are heading straight back out.
Y-shaped USB-C charging cable
One cable charges both temples at once, so there is no separate case to remember and a full top-up takes two hours.
Automatic on and off
Unfolding the temples powers the glasses on and folding them powers them off, which saves battery you would otherwise waste forgetting to switch them off.
Touch controls and app EQ
Tap the JBL logo on either temple for volume, track skip and calls; the JBL Headphones app adds six EQ presets, a 10-band custom EQ and configurable gestures.
Connectivity & compatibility
Bluetooth 5.2 operating on 2.4-2.4835 GHz, compatible with iPhone, Android phones, tablets and laptops that support Bluetooth audio. The free JBL Headphones app for iOS and Android handles EQ, gesture customisation and firmware updates. Charging is over USB-C using the supplied Y-shaped cable, which connects to both temples simultaneously.

Care & safety
The IP54 rating covers splashes and light rain only - these are not swim or shower glasses, and they should not be submerged. Clean the lenses with the supplied cloth or a microfibre cloth rather than paper, which scratches coatings. Do not leave them on a car dashboard: the maximum operating temperature is 45 C. Because the design is open-ear you will still hear traffic, but keep the volume moderate anyway, since sustained loud listening damages hearing over time. Lens replacement, including prescription lenses, should be done by a professional optician.
Who it suits
People who spend the day moving between calls, commuting and walking, and who do not want their ears blocked while doing it. They suit cyclists, runners on shared paths, office workers on back-to-back calls and anyone who finds earbuds uncomfortable. They are not the right choice if you want noise isolation on a flight or deep bass at the gym - a closed over-ear or in-ear model will do that far better.
