The second-generation model adds a light sensor, so it can distinguish between a door opened in daylight and one opened after dark and trigger different automations for each. It runs on a coin cell, sticks on with adhesive pads and needs no wiring at all.

How to set up & use

Pull the battery tab, then open the Mi Home / Xiaomi Home app and add the sensor as a new device. Stick the larger sensor body to the fixed frame and the smaller magnet to the moving door or window so the two sit close together and aligned when closed. Once paired, use the app's automation tab to link it to lights, alerts or other Xiaomi devices.

Connectivity & compatibility

Connects over Bluetooth 5.1 BLE and is set up in the Mi Home / Xiaomi Home app on Android and iOS. For remote status checks and phone notifications away from home, a compatible Xiaomi Bluetooth gateway device is required — sold separately.

Care & safety

Clean and dry the mounting surface before sticking the sensor down, or the adhesive will let go.
Keep the sensor and magnet aligned with only a small gap when the door is closed, or it may report incorrectly.
Use indoors only — it is not rated for rain or direct water.
Keep the CR2032 coin cell away from children and pets; swallowing a button cell is a medical emergency.
Replace the battery with the same CR2032 type and dispose of the old one at a battery collection point.
Do not treat this as a certified alarm or life-safety device — it is a smart-home convenience sensor.
