The Mi Wireless Outdoor Security Camera 1080p is a battery-powered camera you can mount outside without running any wiring to it. It records 1920x1080 video through a 130-degree lens, carries an IP65 dust and water resistance rating, and runs on a 5700mAh battery that Xiaomi rates at up to 90 days between charges. This is the camera-only version: it must be paired with a Mi indoor receiver, which is sold separately.

Eight 940nm infrared lights let the camera see the area in front of it after dark, to a tested distance of 7 metres.

PIR human detection
An infrared motion sensor with a 7m detection distance starts recording and sends an alert to your phone when it picks up movement, instead of recording continuously.

5700mAh battery, wire-free mounting
Because it runs on its own battery, you can place it where there is no power outlet. Xiaomi rates it at up to 90 days per charge, though real battery life depends on how often it triggers.

IP65 dust and water resistance
Rated to handle dust and rain, with a stated operating range of -20 C to 50 C.

H.265 video encoding
The newer codec stores the same footage in less space and uses less bandwidth than H.264.

Anti-theft design
An anti-theft screw structure and a built-in gyroscope trigger a real-time alert to your phone if the camera is tampered with.

How to set up & use

Install the Mi Home / Xiaomi Home app and sign in. Scan the QR code on the indoor receiver to add it, then scan the QR code on the outdoor camera to pair the two. Once paired, mount the camera using the supplied template, screws and wall plugs, and set the motion sensitivity and alert interval in the app to suit the location. Charge the battery with the included 1m cable before mounting. Disable the alert function in the app before taking the camera down for charging.

Connectivity & compatibility

Runs on the Mi Home / Xiaomi Home app for Android 6.0 and above or iOS 10 and above. The camera connects over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11b/g/n). It is not a standalone camera: it must be paired with a Mi indoor receiver, which is not included in this camera-only package. One indoor receiver can support up to four outdoor cameras. The receiver handles storage via microSD card, USB drive or 3-day rolling cloud storage.

Care & safety

Install this camera on your own property only. Local law governs the recording of other people, so check what is permitted where you live before you point it anywhere.
Tell everyone in your household, and any regular visitors, that a camera is present and where it is pointed.
Mount it high enough to be out of easy reach, both to protect it and to keep it away from children.
Check the stated IP65 rating against where you plan to put it; it is rated for dust and rain, not for immersion or high-pressure water.
Do not open the housing or attempt to replace the internal battery yourself.
Wipe the lens gently with a soft dry cloth and keep the vents and sensor area free of dirt and cobwebs.
