The Xiaomi Mi Wi-Fi Range Extender AC1200 (DVB4348GL, model RA75) plugs straight into a wall socket and pushes your existing Wi-Fi into the rooms your router cannot reach. It works on both bands at once - 300 Mbps on 2.4 GHz and 867 Mbps on 5 GHz for a combined 1200 Mbps - and adds a 10/100 Mbps Ethernet port for a wired device. Please note this is the AC1200 model, built on the Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) standard. It is not the newer Wi-Fi 6 AX1500 extender, so check which one you need before ordering.
Key features & benefits
Dual-band AC1200 - 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz together
The 2.4 GHz band reaches 300 Mbps and the 5 GHz band reaches 867 Mbps, for a combined 1200 Mbps, so you can put slower devices on 2.4 GHz and keep 5 GHz free for streaming.
Ethernet port for a wired device
A 10/100 Mbps Ethernet port lets you hook up a TV, set-top box or games console that has no Wi-Fi of its own, right where the extender is plugged in.
Smart signal indicator
A simple colour-coded light shows how good the link back to your router is, so you can find the best socket by trial rather than guesswork.
Access Point mode turns a wired line into Wi-Fi
Connect the extender to a wired internet connection and it creates a new Wi-Fi network of its own - useful in a room that only has a network wall socket.
SmartLink keeps the link alive
SmartLink sets up a standby connection to the router on the second band, so if the primary connection drops the extender switches over automatically instead of going dark.
Works with any Wi-Fi router
Xiaomi states the AC1200 works with any Wi-Fi router, so you are not tied to a Xiaomi router or a particular ISP box.
Set it up from your phone
There is a WPS button on the unit, and the Mi Home app can be used to set up and manage the extender if you would rather do it from your phone.
How to set up & use
Plug the extender directly into a wall socket roughly halfway between your router and the area with the weak signal. Wait for it to power up, then pair it with your router - either by pressing the WPS button on the router and then the WPS button on the extender, or by adding it through the Mi Home app on your phone. Watch the colour-coded signal indicator: if it shows a poor link, unplug the extender and move it to a socket closer to the router, then check again. To use it as an access point instead, plug a live network cable into the Ethernet port and switch it to Access Point mode. The reset button restores factory settings if you need to start again.
Connectivity & compatibility
This is the AC1200 (Wi-Fi 5) model, not the AX1500 (Wi-Fi 6) model. If you specifically need Wi-Fi 6, this is not the right unit - look for the Xiaomi Wi-Fi Range Extender AX1500 instead.
Wi-Fi standards:
5 GHz: IEEE 802.11ac / 802.11n / 802.11a
2.4 GHz: IEEE 802.11n / 802.11b / 802.11g
Wireless speeds:
5 GHz: 867 Mbps (802.11ac, 2x2 @80 MHz)
2.4 GHz: 300 Mbps (802.11n, 2x2 @40 MHz)
Combined: up to 1200 Mbps
Router compatibility: Xiaomi states the Mi Wi-Fi Range Extender AC1200 works with any Wi-Fi router - it does not have to be a Xiaomi router.
Operating modes: Range Extender mode and Access Point mode.
Wireless security: WPA-PSK / WPA2-PSK.
Wired: 1 x 10/100 Mbps Ethernet port.
App: Mi Home app, for setup and management.
Plug: EU version. Physical dimensions vary slightly between regions because of the plug shape.

Care & safety
Plug the extender directly into a wall socket - not into an extension lead, multi-way adaptor or power strip, which can affect performance.
Keep it away from heat sources, damp and moisture, and use it within its 0-40 degrees C operating temperature range.
Do not cover the unit or box it in behind furniture - it needs open air around it to run cool and to radiate a clean signal.
For the best result, site it roughly halfway between your router and the weak area rather than right next to the dead zone.
Unplug it before cleaning and wipe the casing with a dry cloth only - never use water or liquid cleaners.
Keep it away from microwaves, cordless phone bases and large metal objects, which interfere with Wi-Fi.
Who it suits
Anyone with a Wi-Fi dead spot at home or in a small office who wants a plug-in dual-band extender with a spare Ethernet port, and who does not need Wi-Fi 6.
